What is the United States… welfare provider for the world
Posted by: reformedhippie in 2008 Elections, Congress, Ridiculous Yet TrueThis is the ultimate in wealth redistribution. In December 2007 Barack Obama introduced a bill in the Senate (S. 2433 Global Poverty Act of 2007) that would require the United States…
“Directs the President, through the Secretary of State, to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the U.S. foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.”
And this is above and beyond current spending in foreign countries. Is this what we have to look forward to from Obama?
It is not our place nor or job to eliminate poverty throughout the world. Just like it is not our responsibility to create jobs in Mexico to stop illegal immigrants from crossing the border. That is the job of the Mexican government. Where does Obama get off thinking that the United States needs to assume the global welfare distribution center.
This plan is beyond comprehension. And who is going to pay for this… I guess it is the American citizen. Economists have estimated that it will require 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years would amount to $845 billion in additional spending globally.
Obama has been quoted as saying “”It must be a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America’s standing in the world, this important bill will demonstrate our promise and commitment to those in the developing world.”
What about eliminating poverty in this country first before meddling around in other countries. This is more of the tax and spend liberalism in this country.
The final analysis of this is Obama is not fit to run this country. Period.
