Campaign finance rigging… err I mean reform?

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) today filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Committee (FEC) against John McCain’s campaign. The are asking the FEC to investigate whether the McCain campaign violated or is about to violate the law by ignoring the spending limit agreement and other conditions Senator McCain agreed to when he became eligible to receive federal matching funds. Since January of this year McCain’s campaign has nearly spent $50 million while the spending limit until the GOP convention is approximately $54 million.

At issue is whether McCain withdrawing from the primary election’s public finance system would violate money-in-politics laws… namely McCain-Feingold. Ironic isn’t it? McCain getting trapped by his own craftiness.

What McCain has apparently done is secure a bank loan for campaign finance using the future of tapping public funds from matching money as collateral on the loan.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when we intend to spend the taxpayers hard earned money.

But while Howard Dean and the DNC are carping about McCain, where is the MSM on Hillary’s campaign finance fundraising? It is getting precious little attention.

A judge in Los Angeles last week is allowing Peter F. Paul to begin taking sworn testimony in his $17 million fraud suit against former President Bill Clinton. However the trial date that was supposed to be set as been delayed due to a legal technicality. What a surprise!

Scheduled to testify includes Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton… they were supposedly witnesses to an effort by the Clintons and top Democratic leaders to extract millions of dollars from Paul in illegal donations and then cover it up.

Essentially Paul’s complaint says that Bill Clinton promised to promote Paul’s Internet entertainment company, Stan Lee Media, in exchange for stock, cash options and massive contributions to his wife’s 2000 Senate campaign. Paul contends he was directed by the Clintons and Democratic Party leaders to produce, pay for and then join them in lying about footing the bill for an August 2000 Hollywood gala and fundraiser. And supposedly Bill Clinton then reneged on the deal and left Paul hanging.

California Superior Court Judge Aurelio N. Munoz is supposed to set the trial date in an April 25th hearing… a cup of coffee and two donuts says this will be put off until after the general election in November.

So why is McCain getting all the flak about his campaign finances and Hillary’s is getting none? The Clinton’s have the DNC lap dog under full control. Howard Dean and company will not make a move without consulting the Clinton machine. To take away heat from the Clinton machine, Dean has to find a hotter target and lead the MSM to that instead of Clinton.
