I was afraid this was going to come up…
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton hinted at the possibility of a Democratic “dream ticket” with Sen. Barack Obama.
Speaking on “The Early Show” on CBS, Clinton said “that may be where this is headed, but of course we have to decide who is on the top of the ticket.”
Clinton opined on the subject after her squeaked-by win yesterday in Texas and a win in Ohio. As of this writing, Obama still has the delegate lead 1556-1449. So while Hillary may claim wins last night the delegate count still favors Obama.
Hillary has good reason to put Obama on her ticket… he has attracted tens of thousands of young supporters who are loyal to him and his message of optimistic change for the future. The youngsters could care less about the Democratic Party. Clinton retains her grip on the party regulars… in other words the old school. This ticket, should it form, would be a powerful force to be reckoned with . Obama on the other hand would not add Hillary to his ticket since he has established his own following. Adding Hillary would be at odds with his message of change.
This combination is the best that Democrats could hope for. Old politics experience with new blood as second banana. This could spell doom for Republicans because if this happens, Hillary would get in for four years (perhaps eight but it depends on Hillariy’s health) and then Obama would get a leap up for an eight year run.
This would be a disastrous one-two punch that Republicans would have to deal with.

I woke up this morning to see a fellow Highbrid Nation writer reporting that Hillary has won the Ohio and Texas primaries and how this is getting bad. And like him I feel like this battle between Obama and Hillary has went on too long and now they are in danger of hurting the party by allowing McCain to take shots at them while they are dealing with each other. Howard Dean should step in and say “Look, Obama is going to be the canidate and Hillary you can be his running mate if you choose”…I know I know that would never happen but a guy can dream right?
